if…

Jesus to Martha, “…if you believe, you will see the glory of God.” John 11:40

Jesus to Lazarus, “Lazarus, come forth!” vs. 43

“if…” If, not when. It’s not that we wait long enough and it’ll happen. It’s a “do it” moment. We roll the stone away, step out of the boat, saying yes, without hesitation. (Some hesitation is sometimes ok. Sometimes not.) “If” is the color gray. We cannot stay in gray, we must step out of gray into color!

“believe.” The one and only. But not believe in any one or any thing, or our husband or wife, or the president. Believe in “Him who sent Me” – the light – the resurrection and the life – the open gate. The One who lights our path and will not cause us to stumble. The Mighty to save and willing to heal. Our Friend! Believe, also, that He moves at the sound of your voice. “Believe” is the color red. Believe in the power of the name of Jesus—His blood—and anything, everything!, is possible.

“glory of God.” You will see the glory. Glory: honor, applause, dazzling light, excites admiration. “The celestial light that surrounds angels.” Excellence and perfection (from Strongs). Hope. His presence as we worship. His presence as we give thanks. Majesty and splendor. White? Gold? Purple? Difficult choice.

Two marvelous testimonies came my way in the last day. One of a friend’s daughter who was healed while she sat on Poppa’s lap. Another of an in-laws’ knee, who then turned to pray for his wife and she started to feel sensation in her side, after suffering the after effects of a stroke. Jesus! (Am prompting them to tell the entire testimonies on NewDay’s fan page.)

As Reinhard Bonnke would say, “Hallelujah!”

Prophetic art get-together and Bethel Women’s Conference

God is stirring a new thing—a prophetic art get-together at the cabin and stream in the Bethel Women’s Conference, “What if…”.

Dates: August 17-20, Wednesday evening-Saturday morning
Cost: $125 – This covers meals, the streaming of the Bethel conference, and art supplies. And, of course, the cabin.

We will create art during worship at each of the sessions. And then listen to Beni and Sheri Silk speak. Be prepared for the time shift – we will be up late at night, but you can sleep in mornings. See Bethel website, ibethel.org for more info on the conference.

Acrylic paints, colored pencils, pastels, and possibly some collage materials will be provided. You may choose to do another art form, but you will need to bring your own materials for it. We will spend time chatting about process, design and the finished products.

Come expecting to hear God, create with God, and talk about God.

All meals and snacks will be healthy. You must bring your own unhealthy stuff if you want it. No eating in bed.

Openings are limited to three.

Contact me at 952.891.4490 or skemnitz@designsbysbk.com by Saturday, August 13, if you’re interested.

Here we go!

color.

light of JesusI got up at the wee hour of 5:30 this morning and was painting by 6am. That is really early in the morning to paint, but I had so much fun painting over the weekend, that I wanted to get one more in, even if small, before we came home from the lake.

You would never know it now, but there is a dark brown and black undercoating below these bright colors, along with some ochres. That’s about as close as I get to neutrals in my paintings. As I was putting the final colors on, I thought this might start a series called, “from darkness into light.” No. 1. Which of course reminds me of Jesus. That’s what He does, only He does it better. He doesn’t coat the dark with beautiful colors. He is the color that dispels darkness. I often think of Him in glory and in white. But that’s only because we’re looking through human eyes. White is actually a combination of all color. How appropriate that He appears so often as white and bright and glorious.

Black is the absence of color. How true. When the darkness and blackness surrounds us, We lose color. We lose hope. We lose Jesus. Thankfully, Jesus never loses us. His color shines truer and brighter. He Himself is glo-rious.

So. Today. Color me happy. Color me full. Color me in Joy. Color me in His love. Color. Amazing and beautiful color. Need your color back? Worship.

darkness into light

Jesus said, “For a brief time still, the light is among you. Walk by the light you have so darkness doesn’t destroy you. If you walk in darkness, you don’t know where you’re going. As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You’ll be children of light.” John 12:36

love song

beautiful one“My beloved is mine, and I am His.” (she says) Song of Solomon 2:16

“You are altogether beautiful my love; there is no flaw in you.” (He says) Song of Solomon 4:7

When Jesus speaks, it’s amazing how much He loves us and how wonderful His thoughts are about us. His thoughts are higher than ours.

He thinks I’m beautiful. He thinks you’re beautiful—glorious, even, in His eyes!

There are lengths, widths, heights, and depths to His love for us that we’ll never find, but I want to try. Lord – let me explore Your love.

As I play with Him in heaven – I’m enthralled that He would want to just spend time with me. We swing. We chat. We sit quietly a lot of the time. The other day we watched gazelles run by and that’s why the verses in Song jump out at me. Gazelles remind me of His love for us. As He shows me mysteries and hidden things. I’m thrilled that He would show me and love me that much. That He would show…me.

Be rooted and grounded in love. His love.

Explore His tenderness. Bask in His kindness. Be surrounded by love. Soak.

Jesus

Thank You for the cross, my Friend. Thank You for the empty tomb.

Thank You that the increase of Your government has no end.

Thank You that You live in me … and i live in You.

Thank You that i live to exalt You.

That Your Glory covers the earth,

That You are exalted in the heavens.

Thank You that in You, all things are possible.

Thank You that You are healing.

Thank You that You are the beginning, the end and everything in between.

Thank You that You came as Love, as Life, as Truth, as Light.

The Hope of the nations.

With much Love,

Laura’s Respite

Jesus eyes

I asked Laura Thompson, poet extraordinaire, to write this week’s post.
She is a friend and lover of Jesus! Enjoy!

My Respite…

” The One Thing I ask of the LORD—
The thing I seek most
is to live in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
delighting in the LORD’S Perfections
and Meditating in HIS Temple.” (Psalm 27:4)

My greatest desire is to
Dwell in the Prevailing Presence of OUR GOD
each Moment of each Day.

To be Transformed, Transfixed and Captivated
by HIS Words and HIS Ways
in such a manner that My Life Becomes
One Unbroken Gaze fixed upon
OUR FATHER’S Heavenly Beauty.

I know that in any given day
I will encounter Impassable Valleys
and Tumultuous Heights,
but my Heart and Soul can Rest Assured
that The LORD Longs
to Climb these Mountains Tethered to Me.

HE will never let Me go from HIS SIGHT.
HE will never FORSAKE Me.
I must learn to allow HIM to completely Envelop Me
with HIS MAGNIFICENT, UNFAILING LOVE.

I yearn to Practice Beautifully,
the Art of Gazing into HIS FACE
for the Privilege of Always Longing to Live
under the Favor of HIS Splendid Smile.

HE is My Respite.
HE is My Home.
Always and Forever.

~Laura Thompson~

May you live, in His gaze today.

the new.

sonriseJesus not only made a New Years resolution, He brought a New Way of doing life on earth.

With these simple prophetic words, He changed life on planet earth as we know it.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19

Following the words Jesus spoke, what if this became our New Years Resolution…

  1. Travel with Holy Spirit. As in the worship song, when He says “go left,” go left. When He says “go right,” go right. Never sure of the destination, but it’ll be good!
  2. Share Good News. Choose to see good and share it, including what He is doing! I have come to love our testimony time at the NewDay School. It’s all good! He’s all good!
  3. Bring Freedom. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2 Corinthians 3:17. The Spirit is in us. (Thank you, Jesus, for placing Him within us.) We’re where we are (a deep thought, I know…) so we bring freedom to each and every place we happen to be.
  4. Open the eyes of the blind. Shine the light on their darkness! Open eyes to see Jesus in all His love, gentleness, and kindness.
  5. Release joy to the oppressed. (see number 3)
  6. Bless, releasing the favor of the Lord. One of the testimonies at class last week was prayer that led to a new soon-to-be-spouse for a sister, releasing her from poverty, physically and spiritually. Our prayers and proclamations release His favor and His joy!
  7. It’s a year-long way of Life!

Is it too much? One small act a day leads to 365 Acts in a year. That’s amazing!
