befriend faithfulness

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.” Ps 37:3 (esv)

Befriend faithfulness. These words strike me this morning. I like the sound of them. They go together well. Like peanut butter and honey. They complement each other.

Faithful. Full of faith. Steadfast. Close. Rock solid. Trustful. (This may or may not be Webster’s. This is my heart.)

Now add the word “befriend.” To like and enjoy faithful. To enjoy being full of faith. To speak well of and do for. One step further, to lay down your life, to go out of your way, or to sacrifice for. That’s what befriend seems to me. Even to think and meditate on being faithful, like you would think of your friend or spouse, and smile, during the day. It feels good to “like” faithful and to live faithful, no matter the circumstances.

Consider Jesus. He, as always, takes it a step further and views from heaven. He is faithful. He is our friend. He is unconditionally steadfast, and solid. “Bless the Lord, my Rock…”

No one could be better. Befriend His faithfulness. Befriend faithful.

God bless you—abundantly!

Only believe!

“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” Ps 37:4-6
