the Mind.

Our minds are funny spots, aren’t they? I often pray for a more compassionate heart, but in reading through John, I am struck by the mind of Christ.

Jesus knows, knows, knows what’s available. Jesus takes what is here, now, and depends on God. Water not only becomes wine, it becomes the best wine. A nobleman’s son lives as Jesus speaks these words, “Your son lives.” No empathy recorded, no rushing off to lay hands on—just a simple declaration of faith and in belief. Jesus uses 5 loaves and 2 fish that are close by, gives thanks, passes it off to disciples, and 5,000 are fed. Jesus takes a walk in the middle of the night, the sea notwithstanding. Actually, with standing, and walking even, on said sea.

What’s available? What’s the greater reality with the mind of Christ? Think about it.

For me—I need to stop thinking of the mind of Christ and start thinking with the mind of Christ. Making 2011 a Mind-full year! Wow! I’m eager!

fragrance.

pineAs I was driving to class this past Tuesday afternoon, the smell of pine trees floated through the car. I was intentionally thinking about Jesus, about His stories from Monday evening and the goodness of Jesus. How in this time and place He’s releasing a revelation of His love. As I was thinking about His goodness, the fragrance came in the car. My favorite fragrance. Could only be Jesus—not a pine tree in sight. Jesus.

As I reflected on it over the next several days, I thought of the end of John (20:14), where Mary hears Jesus in back of her, and when she turned and focused on Him, really focused on Him, His presence became apparent. I love that thought. Focus on Him and He is present. Draw near to Him and He draws near to us. Listen for Him and He whispers.

Right now, in this time, this place, this season, He’s an encounter waiting to happen. He’s wanting to love on you. He’s in front of you, in back of you, on each side, above and below. Pause and ponder.

Love. Light. Brilliant. Majesty. Splendor. That would be Jesus.

“Arise my love, my beautiful, and come away with me.” Song  of Solomon 2:10

“How exquisite Your love, O God! How eager we are to run under Your wings.” Psalm 36:10

enduring love.

This past Sunday, I believe the Lord gave me a prophetic painting and word for this season—a painting of His enduring love.

magnolia flowerAt the very center of the magnolia flower, the Lord showed me His heart. And His magnificent love for us. The Lord is revealing how much He loves us. How very much He loves us. His love is the desire of our heart! We often dwell on how much we love Him, but at the very heart of God is His love for us, His sons and daughters. It’s a love that is:

extravagant … unfailing … a refuge … wonderful … hopeful … forgiving … great … abounding … enduring x 26

(Psalm 36:5, Psalm 107:8, Psalm 6:4, Psalm 17:7, Psalm 31:16, Psalm 33:18, Psalm 51:1, Psalm 108:4 Psalm 103:5, Psalm 136)

The choice of the magnolia was intentional by God. Fossils have been found of the flower that date back 20 million years. An emphasis on His unfailing and enduring love.

I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge… Ephesians 3:17-19

Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life. Psalm 23:6 (The Message)

This Christmas, be a receiver of the best gift ever. His love! Really! Let it sink in. How much He loves us! Let me know what you think, as you think on Him.
